Recently I was taking another look at one of Farrah Fawcett’s original movie roles in Logan’s Run, when I came across something interesting! Apparently the original costume that she wore in this early science fiction classic is currently for sale on a website: LiveAuctioneers.com
Logan’s Run: Sci-Fi Classic
Logan’s Run was one of the original sci-fi movies that I remember enjoying when I was young and it proved to be recognized as a classic. The story focuses on Logan (played by Michael York) who is as a form of bounty hunter, or Sandman, in a post-apocalyptic society. Once members of society turn 30 years of age they must die to keep the population size in check, but some try to escape and it’s the task of the Sandman to capture and kill them. The story follows his path as his time comes and attempts to escape. On of his adventures places him in a futuristic operating room where Farrah Fawcett’s character Holly 6 is a nurse. Chaos ensues when the doctor is notified that he must attempt to kill Logan. While this is a poor Cliff’s Notes version of the move, I recommend you see Logan’s Run when you have a moment.
Is the Costume Worth It?
As I’ve mentioned before, I feel that Farrah is an excellent subject for the Farrah Fawcett Barbie doll, but the price tag of $13,000 – $14,000 may be a bit steep. Farrah was clearly a 1970s pop icon and certainly a big celebrity, but I don’t see how her modest role in Logan’s Run could justify such a price. Maybe if one is a big science fiction fan or a collector of movie memorabilia I can understand it, but the costume is not nearly significant enough to Farrah’s career to justify such a price.
